What is Land Stewardship?
Land stewardship refers to the responsible management and care of land and natural resources with the aim of preserving ecological integrity, biodiversity, and sustainability for present and future generations.
It involves a range of practices and approaches aimed at conserving and enhancing the health of ecosystems, including:
- Conservation: Protecting natural habitats, wildlife, and plant species from degradation, fragmentation, and extinction.
- Sustainable land use: Managing land resources in a way that meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
- Restoration: Rehabilitating degraded ecosystems through activities such as reforestation, wetland restoration, and soil conservation.
- Biodiversity conservation: Preserving the variety and abundance of plant and animal species within ecosystems.
- Water and soil management: Implementing practices to prevent soil erosion, improve soil health, and protect water quality.
- Community engagement: Involving local communities and stakeholders in decision-making processes related to land management and conservation.
- Education and outreach: Raising awareness about the importance of land stewardship and providing information and resources to support sustainable land management practices.
Land stewardship often involves collaboration between government agencies, non-profit organizations, private landowners, and community groups to achieve shared conservation goals and promote responsible land management practices. At Tucson Clean and Beautiful, we strive to provide our community with the resources they need to claim and preserve available locations to upkeep.
Site Adoption Guidelines:
Here are ways that Tucson Clean & Beautiful will assist you with your project:
- Cleanup supplies: TCB will provide trash bags for all projects and other cleanup supplies, such as gloves and litter grabbers, depending on availability. Advance notice is appreciated when requesting cleanup supplies. Please submit a supply request for your project using the TCB Supply Request form.
- Bag pickup: TCB will arrange a pickup for collected litter if disposal options are not available near your adopted site.
- Maintenance issues: TCB will contact appropriate City and County departments for maintenance issues you observe at your adopted site.
