It’s Save Our Saguaros Month again! Join the Desert Museum and many amazing partners for a kickoff event to celebrate the Sonoran Desert. We will begin by pulling buffelgrass on Tucson’s iconic “A” Mountain as part of our “Restorin’ the Sonoran” events for SOS month! In addition to the buffelgrass removal, there will be many local organizations on site with stickers, resources, and information on invasive species, restoration, and conservation in the Sonoran Desert. If you’re unable to volunteer during the buffelgrass pull, please stop by and say hello to us and the organizations attending the event! There will be pastries from La Estrella and coffee from Presta for all our buffelgrass volunteers. Snacks after the event will also be provided while you enjoy the mini “expo” of tables and chat with our partners. This event is the first of many in our month-long effort to continue “Restorin’ the Sonoran” and appreciating the biodiversity our landscape has to offer. We want to continue drawing attention to the threat of invasive plants and remind the community that everyone can help out in protecting our beloved Sonoran Desert flora and fauna!

Meeting Location: Sentinel Peak Park lower parking lot is the location of the kickoff event. Please park at the upper parking lot and a Pima County shuttle will transport you to the event. You are also welcome to hike down from the upper parking lot.
Event location: 1001 Sentinel Peak Rd S, Tucson, AZ, 85745
Tools Provided: digging bars, pick mattocks, shovels, work gloves
