More Info

Join us on the morning of Saturday, November 2nd for the annual Day of Caring! This large-scale clean-up and restoration event will take place at Curtis Park, located in the Flowing Wells Neighborhood along the Rillito River. The day will be filled with activities focused on connection, healing, and fun throughout the tributaries of the Santa Cruz Watershed.

In addition to a community clean-up and invasive species removal, the main goal of the event is to connect participants with the diverse projects, opportunities, and interests supported by the river. We invite you to engage in action-oriented, river-themed activities such as seed bombing, wildlife identification with binoculars, and much more. Bring your ideas—whether it’s food, drink, or unique hands-on experiences to share with the community. This is a showcase of watershed action—no need for booths or tables!

Our partners so far include Watershed Management Group, Tucson Audubon Society, Santa Cruz River Valley National Heritage Area, and the org that sparked this event: The United Way. We’re aiming for a day filled with action, healing, and connection, and we hope to see all fellow river lovers out there making a difference!

If you have never been down into the Rillito sand beds, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. The event will focus on pulling out accumulated items as well as removing some invasive species.

Children under 18 years old must attend with an adult.

Meet us on the west side of Curtis Park, next to the children’s playground.
Please wear close-toed shoes (boots would be beneficial due to sand), a hat, sunscreen, and bring along a refillable water bottle (to reduce plastic waste). We supply all necessary tools, gloves, and filtered drinking water. Plus a few surprises.
